A weekend of great results from Invicta East Kent athletes

Invicta East Kent Athletics Club athletes started 2022 in fine form both locally and internationally.

Alexandra Millard and Matt Stonier donned their national vests this weekend and represented Great Britain at the World Cross Country Tour in Elgoibar in Spain. Both athletes ran valiantly through some tough conditions and a hilly course to both finish 2nd fastest Brit in their respective races. Alex finished 10th fastest female in the 7.6km course while Matt was 11th in the 10.8km route. Both athletes are just starting out in their senior careers at just 20 years old and show real promise for the future.

Meanwhile on home turf, a total of 21 Invicta athletes competed at the Kent Cross Country Championships at Brands Hatch. Some notable performances included the club’s U13 girls’ team finishing 5th overall and the U17 women 4th overall with Amy Goodhand finishing in a sterling 2nd place. There were also some fine performances from the men with Jamie Keir winning the U17 men’s race in a time of 20:42, while Leo Carroll was 6th in the same race.
