The Road Relays are for Adults, Juniors aged 16 and over can take part with written parental permission, I would also expect a parent to attend.
Team Structures
Runners shall be adults and be members of a club affiliated with UK Athletics. The runner’s themselves do not need to be affiliated with UKA. Where Under-18s are present, the minimum age permissible is 16. These runners shall be looked after by the club and shall run in the senior teams. Where this is deemed not suitable, the runner will be denied permission to partake in the race.
Runners shall be split into the following teams:
Men’s Women’s
Senior Team of 4 Senior Team of 3
V40 Team of 4 V35 Team of 3
V50 Team of 3 V45 Team of 3
V60 Team of 3 V55 Team of 3
The first team shall be assigned the A team.
Where a club has more runners in a given age category, B teams, C teams and D teams can be formed. C and D teams are non-scoring.
A clubs ‘B’ team may not be faster than that club’s A team (for the same age category). Where a B team puts in a faster overall time than their A team (for the same age category), the team’s designation will be switched.
A runner from a higher age category can drop down into a lower age category team (e.g. a runner from V50 can drop down to V40 to form a team). Runners from a younger age category cannot move up to a higher age category team.
Where a club has insufficient runners to form a whole team, a mixed team can be fielded but this must be run as a C team.
A runner may compete in only one scoring category on one event. If a runner competes in an A or B team they may, if it is necessary, make up the number for another team but only if they compete as a C team or lower.
All runners shall be capable of running 2.5 miles in 30 minutes due to time limitations (See ‘Event Timetable’ section) associated with obligations with contractors and fairness to our volunteer marshals.
