Kent County Indoors Championships


Invicta had another fantastic weekend at the Kent County Indoors Championships with medals a plenty as well as some huge personal bests!

Korede Awe won an incredible 60m race against some very fast men. He clocked a huge personal best of 6.81 to be ranked 7th U23 in the country. Max Heavens picked up bronze in the same race with a PB of 6.99 (29th in the country) while Femi Awe finished 6th in the same final with a time of 7.29 (just shy of his PB). Leslie Lartey also clocked a PB in the heat. Hannah Scrivens clocked 8.52 in her 60m, not far off her best. Scarlet Thomas-Wright finished 4th in her 60m with a new PB of 8.66.

In the hurdles event, Lauren Macey picked up the gold with a new personal best of 9.81. Reef Page showed his capabilities as a multi eventer with 9.74 in his 60m hurdles, while Luke Mellor, Doug Noel and Issy Harding all picked up PBS in their hurdles races. Doug also picked up the silver medal.

Max Heavens previously picked up silver to add to his bronze the following day in the 200m with a  time of 22.62 while Jake Goodman ran a great race to take bronze in the U17 race with a new PB of 22.96. Emilia Stokes performed well in her first indoor 200m (and first race as an U17) finishing 4th in her heat while Djamilla Nkereuwem also finished 4th. Emilia also took on the 300m again finishing 4th in her heat. Issy Harding ran a hard-fought race to take 2nd in her heat with the final only an hour and a half later (With some long jump in between!). She finished 5th in the final. Freya Lee competed her first indoor 400m and first as an U20. She ran hard on the first lap to finish in 5th with a new personal best of 64.10.

Luke Mellor finished 5th in the high jump with a jump of 1.70m while Issy Harding finished 4th with  1.55. Doug Noel picked up the gold in the pole vault with a new PB of 4.10m. Issy and Doug also competed in the long jump while Reef Page also finished 6th in the long jump with a new PB. In addition, Doug picked up silver in the shot put while Luke got the bronze in the U17 age group. Issy Harding was just shy of her PB with a put of 9.05m.

With many middle distance runners competing at the cross country, we were still able to produce strong performances in the 800m, Oscar Parrick picked up the silver in the U17 age group while Reef Page won the gold as an U15. In addition, Maddy Sawyer retained her title from the previous year.
