A hardy bunch of 15 Invicta athletes made the trek to Mansfield for the XC relays. The weather was typically atrocious for XC, raining all day onto an already sodden park made for some challenging racing, and no doubt some challenging laundry afterwards.
Best team performance came from the Junior Men of Jake, Jack and Jamie who finished 5th out of 81 teams (and took 4th place as Uni teams can’t win medals)
U17M (Alex, Noah and Adam) couldn’t quite match last year’s silver medals, finishing in 6th this year out of 88.
The Junior Women (Amy, Millie K, Zoe R) made a very respectable National debut to finish 24th out of 46 teams
U17W (Zoe V and Millie D) had an incomplete team due to last minute illness, but after two legs were 43rd from 63 teams.
The final race of the day is always the Senior Men and our guys did us proud. In form James got the team off and flying into 70th in a hard-fought first leg, Marcus got them up to 41st, Joe gained another place to take them to 40th, and then stepping in at the last minute substitute Gav brought the team home to finish 59th out of 177 teams
