National CAU Intercounties Cross Country success

Cross-Country

Following a low of -7 degrees overnight at Loughborough's Prestwold Hall, the sun shone on the County Athletics Union (CAU) National Cross Country Champs.  Featuring teams from 50 counties, the weather and driving conditions did little to deter people from racing for their county against the best of the UK.

Starting the proceedings was the U20M race, over a slightly frozen course.  Individual place of 14th for Invicta's Jamie Keir helped the Kent team to a Gold medal.

As the races progressed, the course got muddier and muddier, resulting in some dramatic falls and a lot of lost shoes, and for those in the last race of the day - Senior Men - over 10km, the ground was an energy-sapping quagmire.

The best individual Invicta performance came for Jake Stevens (U17M) who battled a very strong pack to take 4th place again, just 2 seconds outside a medal.

The full Invicta results:

U13B - Jasper Carroll 83rd

U17M - Jake Stevens 4th, Noah Paterson 18th, Adam Whitlock 111th

U20W - Mille Knightley 68th, Amy-Jayne Goodhand 76th

U20M - Jamie Keir 14th

SM - Cole Gibbens 149th
