Invicta East Kent Athletics Club’s Matthew Stonier represents at European Cross Country Championships

Invicta East Kent Athletics Club’s Matthew Stonier was in fine form at the European Cross Country Championships last weekend despite recovering from a cold the week previous. He was part of a British team that won 8 medals across the weekend with him contributing to the U23 men’s silver medal.

Matt finished his race in 23rd to ensure that all Brits finished in the top 25, with a time of 25:23 in the 8km cross country route.

This is Matt’s 2nd Great Britain vest after competing as an under 20 a couple of years ago and has seen him push himself higher up the positions as the years have gone on. Matt’s recent cross country successes follow a Summer of solid 1500m performances that saw him compete at the British Championships and end the Summer of track racing with a 15th place ranking in all age groups in the UK.

With plenty more races coming up, we can’t wait to see how he gets on and progresses over the remainder of the cross country season!
