The Furley Page Whitstable 10k


On Monday 5th May 25 12 middle-distance runners from Invicta East Kent Athletic Club
participated in the 10k road run starting in Whitstable heading out to the Hampton,
Herne Bay before returning to the same location. Weather on the day was idle apart from
a head wind on the outer leg and wind supporting runners on the return. Tom Storer-
Carter came 3rdd overall and Anna Weston came second lady across the line.
There were serval personal bests times achieved in the challenging windy conditions with
a strong performance being achieved by Lorna, Grace and Vicky to receive 1 st Female
team award. The event organized by Sporting Events UK with support from Canterbury
Harriers was well received by many runners from across the county with a strong field of
1000 participants.
Gold Standard BMC
On Wednesday 7 th May 25 U20m athletes participated in the Gold Standard BMC race at
Birmingham University. Alex Dack won the 3000m event in a time of 08.13.06, followed
by Jamie Kier who came fourth in a time of 08.19.21 and Noah Paterson came ninth in a
time of 08:25.64.
Kent Champs
On Saturday 10 th and Sunday 11 th May 25 junior athletes participated in a range of track
and field events at the Kent Main County Championship held at the Julie Rose Stadium,
Ashford.
The performance from the athletes showed the club in great standing with both personal
bests and podium places being achieved by many. Some of the amazing achievements are
lists below:
Amy Goodhand came fourth in the senior women 1500m in a time of 4:42.25.
Ben Coleman in the U17 category for 800m made it to the final with a time of 2.16.56
achieving a PB. He also completed the 1500m in a time of 4.33.31.
Bethany Clayton in the U17 category for 300m set a time of 51.20, in addition to this
completing the 80m hurdles in a time of 15.42.
Douglas Noel came first in the senior men Javelin event with 53.48m achieving a new PB.
Georgie Kyte in the U20w category for 400mh came first in a time of 101.45 seconds
achieving a new PB. Georgie also completed 200m in her event securing a podium third
place in a time of 25:22.
Jacob Clark Jones in the U15B category for 80mH came second .
James Gill in the U20 category for 100m came second in a time of 10:81.
Joshua Coleman in the U17 category took part in the 800m with a time of 10.89 and
1500m with a time of 4.40.02 achieving 2 PBs.

Laila Humphrey achieved four personal best over the weekend, in the U17 long jump
category came third with 4m 82cm achieving a PB & completing the 80m hurdles in a
time of 12:82s and finishing 4 th . She also ran 200m in a time of 27.59s and achieved the
distance of 26.20m in the javelin.
Lily Kenyon took part in the 100m achieving a season best time of 14.23 followed by
making it to the final of the long jump with 4.55m.
Lois Baisley in the U17 300m achieved a PB of 48.20.
Lucy Steer in the U17 category for 200m came sixth in a time of 26.98.
Luke Martin took part in the 400m in a time of 54.62 seconds.
Mattea Stanley took part in the long jump and 75m hurdles in addition to the U15
category for 200m came fifth in a time of 27.6.
Nickoy Robinson participated in the 100m event making it to the final and completing it
in a time of 10.96 seconds.
Naima Storari in the U15G category for 100m came fifth and in the 200m distance set a
new PB of 27.70 seconds.
Rebekah Goodhand in the 5000m final achieved a PB with a time of 20.44.12.
Sebastian Sans-Kozyra in the U17 category for 1500m came first with a time of 4.17.40.
Story Bundy in the U15 category for discus came second with 43.91m, in the javelin
discipline 48.10m was achieved and in shotput Story came 3 rd with a distance of 12.76m.
Tia Wiggin participated in two events, the first being 100m in a time of 13.14s achieving
a PB and the long jump getting 4.08m
Victor Redman in the U17 category for 100m came first.

Kent Road Relays
On Tuesday 13 th May 25 15 middle-distance runners from Invicta East Kent Athletic
Club participated in the first session of the Kent Road Relays held in Sandgate,
Folkestone hosted by Folkestone Running Club.
The route started at Sandgate Castle heading east for a mile before a sharp left turn
incline run for about 200m before descending and return along the promenade in a
westerly direct. The teams were made up of either 3 or 4 athletes divided up into age
categories. The teams were organised with the great support from the captains Grace
Gibbens and Michal Gallyer- Barnett
The ladies senior team consisting of sisters Amy and Rebekah Goodhand and fellow
athlete Lorna Maxted came second in their category. There were also strong
performances put in by the men’s senior and veteran’s teams. The next road relay is going

to be held on 27 th May in Dover with the final of five events being held at the home of
Invicta East Kent Athletic Club, Canterbury High School on 8 th July at 7pm.
