Kent Schools Championships

Track & Field 

Invicta East Kent athletes followed on from their success of the Kent County Championships by reigning triumphant in the Kent Schools Championships.

 

Athletes from the Canterbury based club came away with a total of 6 gold medals, 5 silvers and 4 bronze.

 

Newcomer Matthew Bawtree took home the silver in the senior age group 1500m with a huge new personal best of 4:36.05.

 

Luke Mellor picked up silver in the senior men’s javelin with a personal best of 43.69.  

 

Chloe Sumner stormed to first place in the senior women’s 200m with a new personal best of 26.07. Isabelle Harding bagged bronze in the same race in 27.28 while Issy Gill was 4th in 29.81. In the intermediate age group, Charlotte Jack took away silver in 29.16 while Jenna Humphreys stormed to victory in her junior’s heat, finishing 4th overall with a new personal best of 28.4 and a great start to her competitive career.

 

Jamie Keir added to his Kent Championships success with a gold in the 1500m in 4:10, while Charlotte Henrich added to her Kent Championships gold with another gold in the 300m in a new personal best of 39.52; a time which sees her 7th in the country across all ages groups!

 

Scarlet Thomas-Wright upgraded her Kent Championships bronze in the 100m to a glorious gold with a huge personal best of 12.78 while teammate Darcie Maple narrowly missed out in her race with a 4th place but another personal best 12.91 and achieving her season’s aim of a sub 13 second 100m!

 

Scarlet’s brother Josh brought home bronze in the 200m with a time of 25.35. just 0.01 shy of his previous best.

 

Oliver Scott was 6th in the younger age group 1500 with a new personal best of 4:38.51. We had another brilliant bronze from Thomas Hutton in the 3000m with a new PB of 9:13 whileRebekah Goodhand was 4th in her race in 11.50.52.

 

In the women’s 1500, Amy-Jayne Goodhand added to her Kent Championships gold with another gold a time just a second shy of her personal best, while Lucy Proctor took silver in the older age group and a new personal best.

 

On the field, Qi-Chi Ukpai won gold in the high jump with a personal best of 1.60. Reef Page got bronze in the shot putt in 11.84 and Amelia Lawton added to her Kent Championships successes with a silver in the discus in 20.43. Oliver Harding threw a personal best of 36.59 in the javelin.

 

Well done everyone, some fantastic performances and continuing to get the season off to a great start for so many Invicta athletes!
