U11s light up Lee Valley’s

Track & Field

This past weekend, Invicta's Under-11 athletes embarked on an exciting journey to Lee Valley for a very special event: the first-ever Mo Minithon, set up by none other than Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah. This inspiring event, themed "One Mo Mile", was designed to encourage young athletes to have fun, challenging them to see if they could give just that little bit extra — one more rep, one more push, and one more mile.

The sun was shining, and all were eager to take part in an event (even the parents’ race with Mo) masterminded by one of the greatest long-distance runners of all time. Sir Mo Farah’s message of perseverance and determination resonated throughout the day, with each young competitor striving to embody the spirit of "One Mo Mile."

Each child had the opportunity to choose three events to compete in, earning points based on their performance. This structure encouraged them to try events they may not have done before.

The Invicta athletes delivered some impressive performances with many trying events for the first time and others gaining impressive PBs:

  • Jessica Stevens placed 2nd overall in the U11 girls' age group after an outstanding performance in the 60m hurdles, long jump, and 75m sprint.
  • Archie Turner finished 4th in the U11 boys' long jump, showing excellent technique and determination.
  • Oliver Stevens excelled in the U9 boys' events, taking home 2nd place in the long jump, 60m, and 200m. A fantastic all-around performance!

The best part about day was the spirit of the Invicta team, they supported & cheered on each other throughout the day and there were smiles all round.

As Sir Mo Farah says, "Don’t dream of winning, train for it." Our Invicta athletes certainly gave their all and are looking forward the next in the series!
