Rebecca Weston all-time IEK female record - Kieran Reilly new u-17 IEK record - Jaffer Adams & Annabel Carter new u-15 mark

The best attended Tonbridge Easter Open featured scintillating performances by 22[img:400l] IEK members across the whole spectrum of disciplines, from sprinting to throwing, from jumping to hurdling. After bettering his best ever 1500m, Kieran Reilly stayed on to memorably win the best race of the day - 600m - with a storming finish to overtake two quality rivals including the hosts' own Luca Russo who, at the M&M Open a week earlier, had gone under 4.20 for 1500m. Kieran crossed the line arms aloft to become the first u-17 to dip under 1 min 30 for the 600m when beating Ben Turner's 1993 record - the only IEK male to have run faster is Stefan Rogers (u-20) also in 1993. Rebecca Weston broke Natalie Whiskin's 3 year-old u-17 record which was also the all-time female mark for 600m. Natalie herself had bettered future international Charlotte Dale's 2000 time of 1 min 40 After Annabel Carter had shown full fitness by posting a sizzling 21.14 for 150m, she later ran out of steam half way through the 600m, but held on gamely to improve by 1 second Georgie Twist's 4 year-old u-15 record of 1:49.1 Jaffer Adams (1st year u-15) erased Luke Turnbull's 1994 records for both 150m and 300m : newcomer Mac Cole (u-17) came within 1/10th sec of Turnbull's 1995 record for 150m and 2/10ths of Turnbull's 300m record. Scarlett Mann was an agonising 1 cm short of the magical 5 metre mark, but is still our best female Long Jumper in years For full results click...[doc:398]and look for 13 April
