Entries looking good for the 2019 SsangYong Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race

The Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race which is the largest in East Kent and is organised by Invicta East Kent AC, will take place on January 27st 2019. There is continued support from last year’s headline sponsor, Korean car brand SsangYong.

Entries so far have exceeded those from 2018 and it is expected that the race capacity of 1,500 will be reached. Runners of all abilities are welcome and the race is an ideal early test for those taking part in a spring marathon.

The course, which is mainly run along undulating country lanes to the south of the city, will remain the same as in previous years. The race HQ will also continue to be based at Canterbury Christ Church University Sports Centre (Pilgrims Way, Canterbury CT1 1PH).

Locally based Invicta East Kent runner Abel Tsegay will hopefully be going for his 5th straight victory and aims to improve on his personal best around the course of 51m 13sec. It is also hoped that the ladies winner, Nicole Taylor from Tonbridge AC will return to defend her crown.

There is a newly designed medal that will be given to all finishers plus FREE photographic downloads and FREE massage available.

There is a significant cash prize fund for the first 3 male and female runners and prizes for age group winners plus first male and female teams.

The level of support for local charity the Pilgrims Hospices has been expanded with the race now becoming one of their officially supported events.

Race Director Glenn Mousley has said “the 2018 race was the best ever with a great atmosphere. It is set to be a popular again in 2019, so potential entrants should register in good time to ensure a place”.
